Best Hand

What can I say?? I can only put my chips in when I got the best hand..... Post your coments about last nights games.

Oh I need some help with the $5 game positions. Need to know who finished where..Thanks

Let me quote a nice little paragraph from Phil Gordon's Little Green Book, entitled Getting It In With The Best Hand:

"All I can do is get my money in the pot with best hand. No matter how hard I try, I can't control the cards after the money is in the pot. All I can do is get my money - as much money as possible - into the pot when I have the best hand.

Bad beats, suckouts, and lucky catches for my opponents are an essential part of the game. If bad players couldn't occasionally get lucky and win, there would be no poker games worth playing.

It does me no good whatsoever to fret about losing a pot if I got my money into the pot with the best hand."

That pretty much sums up the night for me. I believe that I only bet/raise ONCE all night without having the best hand. But I would say a good 90% of the time, I was drawn out. Like the book says, I can't fret - I feel as though I played a solid game and just didn't catch the cards. Conversely, some people were catching all the cards and then were BANKING on getting lucky. It's very difficult, not to mention frustrating, playing against that.

Oh well... still poker, still a good night.

Sorry for showing up late... Todd and I really thought it started at 7:30 - thanks Marcel for whining and yelling at me like an old maid when we got there... wouldn't expect anything less.
