Long Wait for a Points Game

by Todd Melanson • February 18, 2006

FINALLY!! A points game...

What a game it was ... for the 1st time in a long time we had 9 points players together to duel it out! The game started a little after 7pm. The first player out was Marcel at around 10pm.. Maurel had QQ and Marcel had J9. The community was something like 989QJ which gave Marcel a 9's full boat, but Maurel got his Q's full boat! Talk about a bad beat!! It brings back memories of Maurel beating Marcel's nut flush with a straight flush! Mad

Next out was Jay who was working on an up and down straight draw and Maurel caught trip 7's! What's going on here... Maurel hasen't played in a like a month and he's off to a really good start.

Next was Chris, the poor guy couldn't win a tournament to save his life... Hahaha just kiddin man! Chris fell victim to none other than BAWLSIE!! Chris was on the "short stack " and pushed all in with a King of Hearts Jack of Hearts. Bawlsie had AQ offsuit. Wouldn't you know it..Bawlsie wins it with a High card Ace. Tough break man...

Next was ME, I get dealt AK offsuit, the flop comes A9A. At this point I'm laughing ... Trip aces with a King kicker. The turn comes 8. I think I'm still in the drivers seat, then Dave pushes all in and I call him. I mean ... wouldn't you?? Anyways, Dave flips his A8 over with a very confident "NUTS" announcement, and the only card to save me would be a king for a better "NUTS", and wouldn't you know it .... I missed it.. what a surprise.... Oh well I finished in the points anyways! Razz

Next out was Ron and at this point Chris, Marcel, Jay and I went and started another tournament in the living room ... which I won by the way ... Oh yeah so the details are a bit sketchy from here on out... Ron has K3 and Dave has pocket 2's. The flop comes K2K, Ron ends up all in and Dave takes it down with a 2's full boat.

Next was the birthday boy Trav! I think he was short stacked and went all in with AJ against Darren's AK. Darren took it down with a pair of Kings.

Maurel was next on the block... he had pocket 7's and got caught string betting so Dave got to see a cheap flop with his 53. Flop: 33K and Dave ends up taking it down with trip 3's

Then there were 2.. Dave and Bawlsie. This epic battle lasted a bit more than an hour. The chips were moving back and forth as the blinds at this point were pretty high... The $5 game just ended and we just showed up in time for an all in. Dave had J2 and darren had A8. The flop came: 6 9 10, no real help for anyone. At that time I announced that Dave would take it down with a pair of 2's. Would my prediction be correct? The turn card comes a 2. HAHAHAHA Dave get's his pair of 2's that I just called. The river didn't help anyone and Dave won the tournamant.

Good job Dave! Grin

Just to clarify - the hand when I took down against Todd, the flop came A7A.... not A9A... if it was A9A, the nuts on the turn (providing I had an ace) would have been A9. So, when the turn came an 8 and knowing you had a strong ace... it was an easy all-in decision.

As for the rest of the night - I was just put into great situations where people had great hands, and I had slightly better. 2s full against trip Ks, Trip 3s against pocket 7s... and nothing was better than taking Bawlzie out with J2 offsuit! What a great night! Grin
