The first game of the season was some serious good times. We were 18 players, some new faces, some familiar faces, and some that we haven't seen in a while.
Here are some pictures of the gang a few minutes into the game (once I finally remembered to take some pictures)

The children's table (the table I was on).

The pros' table, as proclaimed by that table, obviously.
For those of you who didn't know, you can follow all of our games' updates by following @MonctonPokerC. I won't be posting a lot of details, but I'll try to post whenever somebody gets knocked out and the circumstances surrounding it.
Here are the tweets I posted, along with some of my thoughts on the knockouts.
-
Nick busts out first with 66 against Dave Fraser's KK when the flop came K62 with 2 diamonds. Nick moved all in after Dave's raise. Now 17.
Nick is one of the last person I would have guessed as being the first one out. However, set over set, I can't imagine any situation where I could get away from it either.

@Marc_Julien you're missing out!!

Thanks a ton to our gracious host Dan for surprising the league with a celebratory cake for MPC's season X! It was delicious and gave me a sugar rush for 48 hours.
-
Sherry is out second. Moved in with 77 with her short stack and ran into Dave Fraser's AA. Dave is dominating his table.
I can't blame Sherry for shipping a short stack with a pocket pair... but man, Dave was picking up some serious hands at the right time! His stack at this point was huge.
-
Angela is out 3rd. Her JJ vs Chris Campbell's AK. All money went in on the river when it came a J giving Angela a set and Chris, broadway.
A pretty bad cooler. Not much to say about this hand but, ew.
-
Roland and Lou get knocked out by Dave Fraser when the flop came AQ9. Roland had AK, Lou had KK, and Dave had Q9. Turn/river was blank.
I don't know what the stacks were, or who moved in first... but with a flop with an Ace, I probably get away from KK there, but not sure I can get away from AK. Dave16 wins again. Oh yeah, did I mention that Dave now goes by Dave16?
-
Shawn is out! Moved in with QT and Matt insta-called with KJ of spades. Flop came QA5. And turn/river came runner runner spades for Matt.
Shawn couldn't get much going today... but it's pretty typical. Shawn's such a donk.
-
Todd's out! Jim hit his flush vs Todd's set.
I don't know much of the details on this. Something like, Todd flopped a set, Jim started walking around to assess the chip stacks, so Todd called clock... and then Jim took the full 70 seconds, called, and hit his flush. Is that right?
-
Chris left to go let his dog out like 45 minutes ago and has been posting blinds on a 6-handed and now 5-handed table. Crazy!
OMG, he was blinding off 50/100 and 75/150 blinds on a 6-handed table for over an hour. What we do for man's best friend.
-
Chris Campbell is out. Marcel knocked him out with middle set vs his flush draw and inside straight draw. Merge time!!
Self explanatory. I think a hand like that plays out by itself, espeically since Chris was short after being away for a while.
-
For those of you who are interested, and I know @Marc_Julien is, Dave Robichaud is sitting at 7800.
I was basically just tweeting for Marc, since he was the only one following @MonctonPokerC, so I was just giving him a heads up of my chip count.
-
9 left, average stack is 5000, dan is short stack at 750, and I think Dave is big stack at 7950
-
Stacy is out. Marcel and Stacy all in pre-flop. Marcel has AQ vs Stacy's KJ. Board comes 84JKT. Rivered a straight. Weeeeeee.
Marcel really had Stacy's number today. I think he delivered 2 or 3 bad beats vs Stacy. 88 vs KK, hit is 8. Some other one, and then this one. Although, he did have the best hand going in, the way the cards fell, it was just kinda gross.
-
Marcel gets knocked out with AK vs Dave's QQ when the board didn't improve his hand. On the bubble now that we're down to 5!
Pretty critical coin toss, just glad my Queens held up.
-
Matt Dawson is out! Moved in with his last 400 and barb had 77. The sevens held. Down to 4. In the money! Barb, Dana, Matt, and Dave.
I forget what was the hand right before this that he lost most of his chips, but that was obviously the hand that mattered. Matt was in the big blind of 800, and couldn't even complete it with his 400 chips left.
-
Matt is out!! His QT was defeated by Dana's A5 suited! Down to 3 handed.
I honestly don't remember this hand. I don't remember stack sizes or anything. Anybody care to elaborate?
-
Heads up! Dave 20k vs Dana 16k
-
Dave wins the first game of season 10!! Only 4 hands to decide the winner once heads up! Thanks to everybody who came out!
Really not much to say about the heads up. I got hit by the deck... hard. I think I laid down the first hand to Dana's raise, the second hand, I flopped two pair, the third hand, I flopped top pair, the last hand, I had AJ suited vs Dana's A5. I'd love to say I outplayed Dana, but I honestly just got cards. But I'll take good cards over skill any day!

Here is a picture of all the chips at my seat, my last hand, and my little buddy Homsar.

lol...well for the record I missed 40 mins (10 of which was break) & my stack only went from 3,400ish to 2,800ish.
On my hand against Marcel I think he raised to 800 with blinds 150/300....I pushed my suited Ace with 1,900 & he instacalled with pkt Q's. He flopped a set, I gained a flush draw on the turn but couldn't catch it.
I cant understand how fraser went from having all the chips...to none and finish middle of the pack!
sup with THAT!
oh, don't get me wrong Chris. I wasn't saying it to bash you. If you want to leave for 40 minutes and lose 17% of your stack, I'm all for it! ![]()
And I didn't realize all the action was preflop. I think at that point, I was at the other table, and I was just going by what people were saying. Thanks for the clarification. ![]()
ya know looking back at how i played im not actually upset at it. i made a few key mistakes against second high stack that cost me the tourny. My table was playing so tight i raised preflop like 90% of my hands! guess there is a reason why no one believes me hehe :)
No worries :) It was tough to leave & give away any free chips at all. Shame I hadn't left 15 mins earlier...gave away like 1000 in chips to Stacy LOL
I'd rather forget that game. I'm still fucking pissed about it today, so you'll probably won't see me at another MPC game for a while. Serioulsy! I'm taking 2 months to cool off.
@ Jim... why? Was it our hand? ![]()
I was actually just talking to Marc that I VERY seldom put a lot of money in the pot on a draw, even less for all my chips, even less on a straight draw. And I've done it to you twice, and burned you twice. In fairness, I was getting the right price (or close to it) on both occasions, but I was still at least a 2:1 dog on both ![]()

I personally had one bad laydown and one bad call for the day... other than that, I think I played pretty solid. It helped that I picked up some cards.
But what I'm more interested in is, WHAT HAPPENED TO FRASER? I completley missed his knockout in my tweets, mainly because I was so in shock. Anybody have details?
