Straight Flush!

by Dave Robichaud • January 7, 2006

There are only two words that can accurately describe last night's game. STRAIGHT FLUSH!

We played a relatively quick 5-handed game with Chris' brand new chip set... just a friendly $5.00 buy-in game. Lasted about 5 hours.

The hightlight of the night was about an hour and a half into the match, Chris "shortstack" Boulay, is in his favorite position, short stacked!

Board shows:
Six of Spades Six of Hearts Five of Hearts Nine of Hearts Nine of Clubs

It's heads-up between Bawlsey and Shortstack.

Chris is holding Six of Clubs, with a very strong full house - but a little scared that Bawlsey has a 9 with a stronger full house. There's about 400 in the pot, and Bawlsey raises another 200 on the river. Chris thinks about it and calls. Nope... Bawlsey doesn't have the 9... he has Seven of Hearts Eight of Hearts... STRAIGHT FLUSH.

Come on Bawlsey! There was no need for that! All you needed was a 9 to beat him!

That was the turning point for Chris - he was on tilt the rest of the night... and to add icing to the cake, when Chris went all-in, his arch nemesis, Bawlsey, calls.

Chris flips over pocket 9s, and Bawlsey, pocket 2s.
I don't think I need to say what happens next.... but just in case: a 2 falls on the flop.

The rest of the night is pretty much a blur; our heads spinning from all of the incredible bad beats... but Dave ends up winning it, beating Kim heads-up for the very first time in his life!

Great game guys - good times!... Thanks to Chris and Kim for hosting! Sorry about the bad beats Shortstack... you'll get 'em next time!

Straight flush? Straight flush??? Why oh why did I ever get Bawlsey playing poker? I get a Q high flush, he beats me with AK. I get a boat, he gets a straight flush. I have him dominated with 99 vs. 22, he gets trips. What do i have to do???

It's on now Bawlsey. I can feel it your time is coming! 4:1!!!! 4:1!!!! I had him DOMINATED! And as Dave said, you don't have to stomp me when I'm on the floor. All you neede was a 9. Or even pocket 9's would of been easier to take. STRAIGHT FLUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really love poker......

I think this was about the only time the odds not be 50/50. (Except when Maurel caught his 8 on the turn)
