For those of you who are not aware, we wrapped up the Moncton Poker Club’s Season VIII on Sunday, September 19th, and crowned a new champ: Marcel Maillet! Congrats to Marcel! It was a great season and a lot of good times were had.
With the end of Season VIII, we turn our attention to a new beginning... Season IX! In the past, we’ve always taken some time between seasons to take a break away from the game. However, this time, I’m going to try and have as little downtime as possible. The reason is this; it seems as though we’ve always finished our seasons in September and started a new one in the New Year. This was definitely not on purpose, just the way the timing worked. However, by getting this season up and running as soon as possible, we’ll hopefully finish the season in May or June. This way, instead of having September to December off, we’d have the summer off. That just makes a lot more sense.
So, knowing that the new season will start in October, I’m looking to see who wants to play in the new season. As always, I’m not presuming anybody wants to rejoin – I have removed everybody as point players, and will only add you if I hear from you. If you could respond to this message and let me know if you would like to participate in season XI, that would be great! (Otherwise, I'm going to assume you don't want to join.)
It should be noted that there will be some changes to the point games. I feel as though, in the past, we have catered our games to a lot of players who ended up playing very infrequently. Therefore, I am making changes using suggestions from players who participate more often.
- The maximum buy-in for point games will now be $30. Of course, the buy-in is always dependant on the host, but a game of $30 may make it a little more interesting.
-
The game fee will be taken from the buy-in every game, (this way, nobody can forget it!) and will be $5. Everybody will put money into the pot for the final game, including non-point players.
Example: A game with 15 players and a $30 buy-in, the payout will only be $375 (15 x $25). $75 will go towards the Big Pot game. - The season fee hasn’t changed and will remain at $20. To play in the Big Pot game, you must pay the season fee.
And that’s really it for new elements of Season IX. There was discussion about assigning a standard day/time for the game (like, games can only be on Saturdays at 18:00)… but there were too many games on Sunday afternoons and a few players who can only make Sunday games, so I don’t think we want to go that route.
So, that's it. Let me know if you want to participate in Season IX and help make it the best season yet!
Hope to see everybody at the tables!
Cheers,
Dave
