Moncton Poker Club Season VIII

Hey everybody!

Here it is; the e-mail that marks the official launch of the Moncton Poker Club's Season VIII!  We've got our regular players, new players, and even players returning from earlier seasons.  We're sittin' at 22 players right now, and will possibly get a 23rd by the time we have our first game.  It should be a great season.

Here are a few things to note for this season:

• Fees
  • There is a $20 fee to begin the season.  This is required at the first game each player attends.  This money goes into the "Big Pot" and will give each player 50 points.
  • Every game, there will be a $2 fee that goes towards the big pot and awards the player 5 points.  This is a mandatory fee.  Players cannot choose to not pay the fee and not get the points.
  • There is a one-time $3 administrative fee, also required at the first game you attend.  This just helps cover the cost of the domain and web hosting fees.  (Believe me; I’m not even breaking even on this.)  It should be noted that this is the ONLY fee that is not put into the big pot and returned to the players.
  • Therefore, the first game, players must bring: $20 (Season Fee) + $2 (Game Fee) + ($3 Admin Fee) + Game Buy In.

•  Games
  • Similar to last season, official MPC point games must be separated by at least one week.  So, essentially, we can only have a point game every second week.  More than one week gap is perfectly acceptable.
  • Let's all make an effort to be on time this season.  Last season, it seemed every game started half an hour late... As a host, I will definitely try to be diligent in starting the games on time, regardless of who has arrived.
  • We will have the Big Pot game after 15(ish) regular season games.  I am therefore tentatively setting the big pot game on Saturday, September 4th.

• Awards
  • Player of the Year: At the end of the season, whoever has the most points will be awarded Player of the Year and $50 (the price of all the fees throughout the year).
  • Merch: I still have quite a bit of poker paraphernalia that I received from pokerstars.com, pokeroom.com, and betfair.com.  I will also be working on getting additional merch from these and other sites.  The prizes will be awarded at random games and for random achievements, so try to make all of them!
