Hey everybody!
Ok, so here's the deal - I'm organizing a fundraiser for my older sister, Kim. Just to give you a little background, here's what's going on:
A few weeks ago, after several days of severe abdominal pain, Kim went to the hospital and was immediately admitted. Subsequent to many blood tests, CAT scans, and an MRI, the doctors discovered that she had a rare condition called Hepatocellular Adenoma; a benign tumor on the liver that had caused internal bleeding. Given that the adenoma had bled, she had to have a procedure done in Moncton to temporarily to allow her to tolerate the high pressures of flight, permitting her to fly to Montreal for the liver surgery.
Being a mother of two young boys, leaving her family behind to go to a foreign city for surgery seems difficult enough; however, she has recently been hit with worse news that the flights to and from Montreal will be at her own expense. Having two small children and lots of debts, even under regular circumstances, my sister would be unable to afford this type of trip; however, the impact seems much worse as we are literally 2 weeks away from the holidays.
Here's the information:
When: Sunday, December 17, 2006 - 1:00PM
Where: Shakers Lounge, St. George Street
Buy-In: $20 (No rebuys)
Starting Chips: 1500
Starting blinds: 10/20
Prizes: All proceeds raised from the buy-ins will go directly to Kim and her family, however, we have some awesome donated gifts that will be given out as follows:
1st: 2 round-trip VIA Rail tickets to Halifax, as well as a Sonywear package (T-shirt, water bottle, travel mug, wristband, and a lanyard). (Approx. Value: $220)
2nd: 2 round-trip VIA Rail tickets to Halifax. (Approx. Value: $180)
3rd: XBox 360 Game: Viva Pinata. (Approx. Value: $60)
4th: Cargo and James Tea Basket. (Approx. Value: $50)
5th: A "picnic-in-a-bag" package donated by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts. (Approx. Value: $50)
6th: WPT Dealer button. (Approx. Value: $30)
7th: Free buy-in to the MPT $26 buy-in tournaments held at 1755. (Approx. Value: $26)
8th: Free buy-in to the MPT $26 buy-in tournaments held at 1755. (Approx. Value: $26)
That's right! All you need to do is make it to top two, and you are guaranteed 2 round trip tickets to Halifax!
There will also be door prizes given out! A boatload of Sonywear gear and some Asurion gear!
I would like to personally thank the following:
Kim also said that if, for whatever reason, more money is raised than what is needed, she will "pay it forward". She will re-donate the money to a charity of her choice.
