Darren loves Jack Deuce

by Dave Robichaud • December 23, 2005

What a night! What was thought to be a quick $10 game, turned out to be a full table of 8 players and a 7 hour match!

The night was slow, and the first person knocked out (Todd AKA Jean-Robert) was about 3 hours in. The pace didn't speed up any, and took another 2 hours before we got down to 5 handed.

At this point, blinds were up to 50-100, so things started picking up... and people starting making desperation moves.

Fast forward another hour, and we're three handed. Chris, Dave, and new guy, Darren. Dave, in the small blind, goes all-in for about 1500 in chips. Chris, in the big blind, folds... and Darren, on the button, calls.

Dave shows A/6 of diamonds, and Darren shows J/2 of diamonds.

The board comes 3, 4, 6, K, 2 (no diamonds). Darren takes it down with a pair of 2s.

Down to heads-up. Chip count is pretty close, but Darren has a slight lead. Darren uses the "Boulay" tactic and pushes all-in, hand after hand, stealing the now 100-200 blinds, each and every time.

Chris picks a bad moment to finally call the all-in, when Darren flips over AK.

I forget what the board was showing... but Darren took it down, and won the whole thing and only his 2nd time playing! Congrats Darren!

Thanks to everybody who came... as always, good times!

I just want to let everybody know that I'm still SICK about losing that hand. I mean, 2s!! He took it down with 2s!!! He had a 13.6% chance of hitting his card on the river. Argh! Damn newbies! Who calls an all-in with Jack Deuce?? PHEW... ok, I'm done venting... Nice hand Darren.

Six no good here?

I'm guessing it might've been a seven or something Razz

You should have seen him last night, I thought he was going to throw the chips across the room. Razz

Yeah, there was no 6... I believe it was a 5... I just remember thinking, I was a 4 short of a straight.
so, the board was 3, 5, 7, K, 2.
My bad...
As far as "throwing the chips across the room"... I highly doubt that. It was an incredible bad beat, and I was freaking out because of the odds... but I wasn't pissed. Just dumbfounded if anything.

lol. Yeah just kidding around.

Ohwell, nothing wrong with a bit of luck Smile
